In 2008, Covington, Louisiana based It Straps On (ISO) became the first Louisiana company to be awarded the prestigious “E” Award for Exports. The award is given by the President each year and serves to recognize persons, firms, or organizations which contribute significantly in the effort to increase United States exports.
ISO President Steve Smith along with his son Cody traveled to Washington, DC to receive the award directly from President George W. Bush in the oval office. Also in attendance was Department of Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez and Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise.
About The “E” Award
The “E” Award is given to American companies who show outstanding success in exporting and is considered an exclusive award as generally less than 30 companies receive the award annually. In 2008, ISO was one of only 18 companies nationally to receive the award. To be eligible for this award, a company must achieve four successive years of export growth, and an increasing percentage of export sales within their overall sales. Applicants are also evaluated based on the level of innovation within their international marketing plan as it relates to the increases in exports reported.
