Stainless steel band clamps are small bands that are normally attached to hoses to provide a tight seal. They have a great deal of strength to them and can provide durable, reliable usage. Some of them are tensioned by tightening a screw and others are tensioned by other methods.

Common Uses

Stainless steel band clamps are the logical choices when you need to keep tension on hoses and other equipment in environments where there may be high pressure or stress involved. They are also ideally suited to corrosive environments where the materials you're working with would destroy other materials. There are three types of stainless steel generally used in these applications and they all have their advantages, depending on the scenario in which they're being used.


Choices in Alloys and Materials

Stainless steel band clamps come in three materials. They have different choices in terms of width, thickness and, importantly, corrosion resistance. You can determine which choice is right for you by giving consideration to the different properties of the steel.

  • 201 stainless steel is the highest strength and lowest cost of all stainless steels. It has good corrosion resistance in normal environments, such as those that involve water and normal environmental exposures, including rain and car exhaust.
  • 304 stainless steel has better corrosion resistance than 201. It is better suited to environments where 201 may not be appropriate and where a higher degree of resistance is required.
  • 316 stainless steel has the highest resistance of all three, but is also the weakest of all three stainless steels. This steel is used in the most taxing environments, such as refineries and chemical plants.
