201 Stainless Steel Banding

The heart of our business, Type 201 Stainless Steel is the standard in banding, clamping and fastening for general applications. Of all the stainless used for banding, Type 201 is by far the strongest. Our band is fully annealed to combine uniform elongation with strength. It is the number one choice for sign hanging where wind factors contribute to the need for great strength, and small diameter sign posts dictate the need for elongation.

We test all of our 201 stainless steel banding to warrant that it meets ASTM-A666 standards including, but not limited to, chemical composition requirements of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium, and nickel and the tensile and break strengths.

Unique quality control: Each coil of band is stamped with a 4 digit code every 12 inches referencing the test results and verifying its authenticity and compliance with ASTM standards as well as serving as a handy measurement point. This process is unique to ISO.

Type 201 offers good resistance to oxidation as well as many corrosive agents. ISO's band has a safety edge for safe handling and is embossed to aid in tensioning.

What is 201 stainless steel?

All stainless steel is at least fifty percent iron and eleven percent Chromium. 201 stainless steel is an austenitic alloy containing nickel and manganese in addition to chromium. This particular combination of elements was created when fluctuations in nickel prices were adversely affecting the price of stainless steel, making this alloy often a cheaper alternative to those that contain a higher percentage of nickel. Like other popular grades of stainless steel, it is resistant to corrosion, strong, and nonmagnetic.

Where is 201 stainless steel used?

This particular type of stainless steel is used in many industries because it is less expensive than other grades of steel but shares the properties that attract users to stainless steel in the first place including strength, resilience, resistance to oxidation and quality appearance.

Some of the places you might see 201 stainless steel include:

  • Commercial and household appliances
  • Banding & strapping
  • Wing seals
  • Sign brackets
  • Hinges
  • Windows, doors, and other architectural components
  • Railway cars
  • Automotive trim
  • Cooking utensils and other restaurant equipment
  • Trailers
  • Sinks
  • Hose clamps
